Choice: Our Personal Gateway to Sacrifice

Who knew something so powerful would boil down to something so simple…choice? Each day of our lives we make tons of choices…many of them are small, minute, unnoticeable. But then there are those which are earthshattering…momentous…life changing…and we never forget them.

Despite our inability to see with the human eye, our choices are connected and each of them hold meaning…purpose…and it’s all by design. For some, this news may be intriguing or even thrilling. But for others…the overthinkers…the planners…this can be overwhelming.

*

*

Who we are and who we have yet to become is a direct reflection of our choices in life or a result of the choices we were afraid to make along the way. Nevertheless, we stand as a product of the inner workings of our mind and bundled emotions of our heart.

*

Does this make you proud, or do you feel a sense of disappointment?

Many brothers and sisters feel they are a result of their surroundings, the limited resources, the survivors of victimhood. With this perception, life is happening to each of these individuals; they are presenting themselves as without choice or accountability.

*

*

Unfortunately, even a victim [prisoner] has a choice to decide their fate. He or she may choose to fight at every moment and create an opportunity to escape. Even if death is inevitable, he or she may decide to make the journey unpleasant and exhausting for the warden.

*

*

As we learned from our history books, tens of thousands of slaves claimed their own lives by jumping from ships as a declaration of choosing freedom over enslavement. Live was happening to them with the men and their chains, guns, and illusion or perceived power. But even in the face of wickedness and torture, they refused to be a victim and welcomed their power of choice.

*

*

The battles we face in today’s society are not nearly as detrimental as slavery, and yet we continue to find ourselves immobile, frightened, and unsure of what to do. We continue to find ourselves too afraid to make the wrong decision. We find ourselves too careful, thinking through every scenario, and years pass just for us to find ourselves stuck in the same circumstances in fear of the unknown.

*

*

Where is your faith? Are the demons circling your life more powerful than the God in your life? If you say the demons are too powerful…the fear is too great…the doubt is too overwhelming… Then guess who is giving the power away… yes, you! It’s your choice of allowing insecurities to be more influential over your life than hope!

*

*

Choose to stand up for what you want. Believe that you are worthy. Consider that joy is what you deserve. Welcome more than turmoil into your life. Choose to be your very own superhero.

Set your soul free and choose sunshine over cloudy-gloomy days. Choose rainbows over frosty-snowy blizzards. Embrace the freedom and power of choice over the lackluster position of victimhood, for nothing in this world is too formidable for a Child of God!

Choose you, and never allow your happiness, hope, or dreams to become a sacrifice ever again!

Help is on the Way: A Call from the Inside

Many times, we find ourselves at a pause…holding our breath…afraid to open our eyes…

Fear and doubt will be the death of us…those of us sitting and waiting for a sign…praying for change…begging for something different in our lives. Waiting and weltering as the world continues to spin, flowers bloom, and new beginnings are created.

*

*

Many times, we mistake sitting in confusion with being patient for our Father, the King of Kings…

*

Change requires action, even if you accidently do something wrong, that’s ok because you gave an effort…you tried! Be proud of doing something. Sometimes we must move our body to trigger our mind into believing once again that we’re alive.

*

*

Many times, we set ourselves up for failure thinking our prayers and tears are enough to evoke a different outcome…

Transformation requires work…consistency…intention…and courage. With so much access to the outside world and the homes of our neighbors and friends across the world, many are misled to believe a revolution within oneself happens overnight and that prosperity is waiting on the other side of the door.

*

*

Ironically, success in life is much like baking a cake and the bigger the dreams…the more glamorous the lifestyle…the more complicated the goals…then the more planning, prepping, and ingredients are required to reach the greatest potential of savory goodness…stacked with layers of accomplished milestones and covered with a light, airy, and sweet frosting covering the scars of lessons learned along the way.

*

*

However, my dear friend, if fear controls your mind…if doubt controls your mental response…if victimhood remains your default, you will only enjoy the image of your dream cake from the front of the box while your taste buds erode and settle into dust.

*

Many times, we believe our life is doomed for disaster simple due to our track record…

What happens every day when you rise from bed thinking the day is going to be terrible? How many blessings do you overlook by trying to find chaos? How many beautiful moments do you bypass with your fixation on cruelty and despair? How much darkness do you witness in your surroundings by ignoring the miracles being revealed all around you?

*

*

Many times, we manage to forget that our words, deeds, and actions give strength to either the dweller in the darkness or the Saviour in the light…

*

*

Now that you know the power is in your hands…that the influence rests on your tongue…that the ingredients for success reside within you…what will you choose to do? Will you be the change you desire in this world? Will you elevate those around you? Or will you sit and wallow in your decay?

*

*

I challenge you to grab that mixing bowl and add your goals [ingredients], create your vision [mixture], pour them into cake pans [God’s hands], bake them at the appropriate temperature [prayer], and then begin assembling your multi-tiered cake [blessed life].

*

*

Before you cut the first slice, look back at the box with all the instructions and reflect on how overwhelmed you felt…recall the desire to give up…relive the confusion with the new steps you have never attempted before.

*

Many times, we become our own worst enemy…

But this time, let’s choose Perseverance…Resilience…& Faith!

Beyond the Sweetness of Delusion: One Shocking Call for Help

Many things have been said and done towards us over the years. Some of these encounters came with perfect timing, providing just what we needed at the moment. We were encouraged, provided with resources, or given wisdom. Some people have a gift of knowing exactly what to say. Others are blessed and driven to help others with the tools available for dissemination to those struggling.

*

*

*

Not to mention, it’s such a blessing to know these types of people who never ask for anything…they offer and add value to your life. They do not burden you with their horror stories at a sad attempt of winning the “Who has the Worst Life” award. They share things that are exciting, distracting from your daily woes and times of strife.

*

*

*

They share things that remind you that the world is still spinning and life continues to move forward. It forces you to decide whether to remain stagnant or fight for the life you deserve. Some of the battles we face require assistance from the outside… a source greater than ourselves…an essence not stripped of its catalyst of strength.

*

*

*

Let’s give a shout out to the people that listen with an open ear…non-judgmental friends/family that see us as humans first. We love you! At times, you give the best advice. You never allow us to live in our delusion or false realities that offer a temporary guise of healing and peace.

*

*

*

Moreover, the words of positivity that you offer… the hugs you extend… the car rides in silence…or having your presence near us…they remind us God is real. They remind us He is loving. They remind us He is forgiving. They remind us He has warriors positioned all over and serving His will.

*

*

*

The strong one! The wise one! The image of resilience! The voice of reason and logic!

*

*

As a matter of fact, we recognize that those who carry these titles did not willingly choose them on their own. Some of us were involuntarily nominated in these roles at an early age and the responsibility never quite reassigned itself to someone else.

*

*

*

Why? Why must we achieve excellence in everything we do? Where does the strength come from? Or are you/we better at hiding what’s really going on? Does helping others provide a selfless outlet or escape from your own problems?

*

*

*

Similarly, this must be part of your strategy for healing, by supporting others, counseling the broken, equipping the poor, and serving the unfortunate…a more commendable space of delusion, of course.

*

*

Though, if we could be honest for a moment, delusion feels good when it’s not active in an atmosphere of toxicity. We cannot sit here and pretend otherwise. On the contrary, delusion is like the mid-night snack we know is not good for our health, but it will satisfy the craving and send us off to sleep.

*

*

*

In spite of the weird dreams that may come with eating so close to bedtime, we managed to fall asleep and that was the priority! Most would prefer to feel weird rather than restless. In this case, a win is a win!

*

*

When we think back in time and the conversations or interactions with people, not everything said has hurt us. Not everything said has broken our spirits. Not all things said or done required a response or reaction. Not all things done to us left a physical bruise to remind us of the altercation or disagreement.

*

*

*

Most, as you begin to reminisce, may recall taking the high road regardless to maintain peace and minimize hostility. Has there ever been a moment where the high road cost your peace of mind? Has it ever caused your spirit to be unsettled? Did it fill you with regret? How often does this encounter stalk you while daydreaming?

*

*

*

Comparatively to the previous scenario, this too, is delusion. We often times find ourselves compromising and accommodating others for the sake of being peaceful.  As perplexed as it may sound, these “selfless” acts can cause more damage if we’re not careful.

*

*

*

We should not be compromising when our values are completely disregarded by the oppressor. We should not be accommodating when our faith is under attack, no matter the discomfort or level of intimidation. We should not take the high road when our family values are omitted, leaving our loved ones demoralized or petrified. We should not turn the other cheek when decrepit soulless beings attempt to steal our souls, joy, purpose, or connection to The Almighty.

*

*

*

As apprehensive as it may seem, these are not the instances to sit in the delusion of taking the high road. This my friend is when we turn and fight. We fight for what is ours. We fight for what we have worked so hard for in life. We fight for the things God has declared were ours, and ours along.

*

*

*

We fight to take a stand! We fight to be remembered! We fight for the weak! We fight for lost souls unable to find their way. We fight for the disadvantaged! We fight for the underdog! We fight because this spiritual warfare has claimed too many lives.

*

*

We fight because our Purpose is bigger than Pride!

*

*

To have clarity of when to fight and when to stand down, one must be connected, anointed, patient, humble, slow to react, a praying warrior, purpose-filled, and emptied of him/herself and sustained by the Holy one.

*

*

*

That promotion is yours, position yourself to be competitive. That new house is yours, build your team and go for it. That new business is yours, establish a plan and pursue it. That healing you’ve prayed for is on it way, pray and believe it is done. That emptiness deep inside does not belong there, claim your purpose every day and believe it. That justice belongs to you, equip yourself with the resources to declare victory.

*

Prayer – Action = Disappointment & Defeat

*

I write this passage to declare your Victory in 2026! Be Bold, Kind, Thoughtful, Vigilant, Confident, Hopeful, True, and practice Discernment!
